A little more about yesterday’s visit! I was really tired when we got home, so I kept it brief. Anyway, Joshua is finally back with his regular hem/onc doctor…another step in the right direction! The doctor said that Joshua has done better than he thought he would since first meeting us back in February. He also said…
-Joshua doesn’t need to wear the mask in public
-is bruised from head to toe because he is a maniac
-has no signs of gvhd
-is almost finished with his meds
-his counts are now considered NORMAL!!!!
-Yes, normal!

Another thing about our clinic visit…
I posted a while back about stocking the clinic with Dum Dum Pops each time we were in. Well, yesterday I learned that these lollipops have become hugely popular because most of the kids there have a port or Hickman and the medications, cleaning and/or transfusions actually cause the kids to have a really bad taste in there mouths. Who knew??!! So, the candy is helping kids with their treatment. Joshua, of course, is just happier when he gets a special treat…which was my original motivation! The down side is that they are going through at least 2 bags per week. I usually bring in 4 bags, so I need to step it up a bit. I’m going to order a 30 lb case (that’s approximately 2,340 lollipops!) from Spangler’s online shop. Do you want to help fund our Dum Dum Pops Project? To send a PayPal donation Email me!
