Camp Side-By-Side

We had such a wonderful vacation at Camp Side-By-Side!!! I don’t even have the words to adequately describe what went on here. The volunteers and organizers of this event put so much time and effort in to every single detail of this camp….it was amazing. The people involved in this organization are truly amazing!

Upon arrival to camp…I mean King Arnold’s Kingdom, we met our buddies. Each child received a buddy to take them to do whatever activities they wanted. After we unloaded our stuff at our castle and set up our sleeping bags, etc, the kids were off and running! Shortly after that we met King Arnold and his daughter Princess Lilly Pad. The Princess was excited about her upcoming coronation and showed off her special crown. The King decided it should be locked away in their treasure chest for safe keeping when suddenly a dragon snatched the key and ran away. If Princess Lilly Pad did not get her crown out in time for her coronation, she would turn into a frog! It was now the kids’ job to capture the dragon and get the key back! So, in between participating in all of the other fun activities, the kids spent time working on their dragon slaying skills and searching for that terrible dragon. On the last day of camp they finally captured the dragon and everything worked out just fine…except my pictures of the event! They all came out blurry, d’oh! Just image a guy in a dragon costume surrounded by children who are out to get him and armed with foam swords!

Here they are training:

Here they are enjoying some of the many, I mean MANY activities…

And, we can’t leave out the Tully’s Cart!!! The kids spent a lot of time here ordering up all kinds of drinks…Italian sodas, hot chocolates, milk shakes, mochas...anything that could have whipped cream on top!
