We volunteered with AmeriCorp to collect food for the Providence Regina House at a Safeway in Seattle. It was nice to see so many generous people! We collected over 3000 pounds of food and 91 packages of diapers…WOW!!! The kids did a really good job talking to people. Even though Zachary is super shy, and it took a lot of encouragement, he actually talked to people. I kept telling him, “What’s the worst that can happen...they say no?” Well, he was on a roll until one guy came along and after I said my spiel the guy shouted “Yeah, well I like collecting rat poison to keep my landlord out of my apartment”…..he continued to rambled on until out of ear shot. Thankfully he was our only crazy of the day, but it was really unsettling for Zachary! Joshua made everyone take a flyer; he didn’t care if they said no thank you! I think he really helped to increase donations with cuteness and/or guilt! Ian and Dylan were at a different entrance with Todd and I hear they did a great job, too!
