Having fun at the clinic with his new Leapster
This is what the Hickman looks like. It's easy to see why I hate it...right??!!
This was our second to last visit with the bone marrow failure expert. The next appointment, on July 24th, is the big one...he will measure how much of his blood is Ian’s and how much of it is Joshua’s. It should be 95% donor at this point. This will be the best indication of graft failure, which unfortunately could happen at any time. Aplastic patients have a high graft failure rate and for some unknown reason they tend to experience the rejection later (rather than sooner) during the first year. So, we'll still be on edge for some time.
The biggest and best news of the day...the awful Hickman line is going to be removed!!!! I'm waiting (by the phone) for the surgeon's office to call me with the date and time. I can't wait!
***OK, they called and it's set for August 5th***
